I just graduated from Mt. Sierra College where I studied Visual Effects and Digital Media. I am also a freelance artist animating animatics for Tumbleweed Entertainment. During high school, I spent 3 years as part of the video production program concluding with a year in the advanced program. That year was spent as a main editor for a weekly news show broadcast to the rest of the school weekly.
Over the last four years, I have completed over 30 animatic projects for various companies including Altoids, PopTarts, Walmart, and P&G equating to over 100 individual animatics. Most recently I have built the graphics for Fox Sports Network and their Field of Dreams promotion with Pepsi Max.
With a focus on visual effects in school, my goal is to go into the CG animation industry. Just as I taught myself After Effects, I have taught myself Maya by starting with a instructional book and then just building models. The first model that I built is a Chevy Camaro Concept. It was an experience that helped give me a better understanding of the whole process. I moved on a few months later to a Dodge Challenger that I used to start understanding the basics of Mental Ray. Since then, I have taken two classes on Maya starting with a modeling class that covered NURBs, Polygons, and Subdivs. The second class covered texturing, lighting, and rendering using Mental Ray.
The reason I have picked this as my goal is to give myself a better understanding of the process. If I were asked right now what I want to do in the animation field, my answer would be Layout. I came to that conclusion based on my skills at this time and the fact that I like to bring everything together. Modeling is another path that I am considering at the moment.
I have experience using the following programs:
- Adobe After Effects
- Autodesk Maya 2010-2012
- Adobe Photoshop
- Adobe Illustrator
- Adobe Premiere
- Adobe Dreamweaver
- Adobe Indesign
